I'm trying to create a business directory listing for a publication. I have a download of the businesses and their info and I'm looking to put that into five columns in an InDesign file.

Data Merge does something similar to what I'm looking for but I need it to all be in one text frame that when edits are made the rest of the businesses shuffle. I've attached a PDF of the design I am trying to achieve.

Does anyone have any auggestions for the best way to achieve successful results?

This can be done with Data Merge and this plugin

The merge template would be just one record of <company name> <address> <phone> etc. Perform the merge, producing a page for every record. Use the autostitch plugin to thread all of the pages/record together. Then create a new multi-column document, that you will flow the continuous text.

And here is the tutorial: http://www.ozalto.com/en/indesignsecrets-presents-our-inlinemerge-script/

If you need more comfort and you're on mac you may try MyDataMerge too.
