I just want to type one character backwards because this wingdings set doesn't have left and right versions of the characters, is it possible?

If you set one character in its own frame and flipped the frame backwards and pasted it inline into the flow of the other text ... maybe. Or maybe take the one letter and convert to outlines and then paste inline with the other text ... Maybe. This interesting thread suggests making a simple specialty font with the letterform pre-reversed: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/backwards-letters/m-p/9724791
