Can't Locate files needed to import into InDesign

Since upgrading I cannot locate images that I need to import into InDesing documents. I know they're there since I can see them in their respective folders. and everything is on my imac, no networks or external drives. This only happens in InDesign and now I can hardly work since most of my work is image-heavy....what is oging on?

Try resetting your preferecences

 

Restore all preferences and default settings
  1. Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
  2. macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
