CS1, CS2 and CS3 are dead & gone. The activation servers were removed from service years ago. Even if you find an installer, with a valid serial number it's impossible to activate the software beyond a trial period.
--------------------------
CS4, CS5 and CS6 are on life support. But they can still be activated providing you have the following:
1. original media (disks or downloads) you received at purchase,
2. a legitimate serial number for that particular version, language and platform (Win/Mac),
3. an older operating system that can support legacy 32-bit apps.
--------------------------

Creative Suite is discontinued, unsupported and no longer sold. Use it at your own risk.

Your post appears to say you aren't able to activate CS2, but you've installed and activated CS[1]? That doesn't really make sense, but in any case, true forward compaitibility is nearly a non-existent thing in any software, so yes, you won't be able to open a CS2 file in an earlier version of the software. The only solutions will be 1) to find someone who can open your CS2 file and get them to save it in the exchange format that was in effect when those versions were current (which may or may not work), or 2) spend money and buy a subscription to the current version. You didn't mention what kind of "new computer" you've got, but I'd be surprised if those outdated versions will run under a current OS much longer, if at all.

I'm going to assume you mean CC but telling us you can't open them is totally meaningless.

Details please. What operating system? What exact version of CC and how did you get the old files onto the new computer.

You are effectively looking for help with software that is the better part of 20 years old. Good luck, you're going to need it.

Hi,

as John already said: Find someone who has InDesign CS2 running and export to the exchange format INX.

InDesign CS should be able to open the INX file from CS2.

FWIW: InDesign CS cannot open INX files from InDesign CS3 or CS4.

To make that work you have to edit ( hack ) the INX file.

INX is not available with InDesign CS5 and above.

Uwe Laubender
