Can't seem to add text to image

As you can see I have a text box to the right. When I drag it onto the image, the text dissappears. Also when trying to make corrections to existing text the image itself will disappear. What have I activated?

It sounds like text wrap is on, and maybe on multiple frames. Try selecting the various frames then choose Window > Text Wrap. Click the left button on to the top row for each frame and try again. Does that take care of it?
