Cannot Export the Endnote Story to InCopy

I am unable to export endnotes from InDesign to Incopy without getting this warning message: "You cannot export the Endnotes Story to InCopy. To take the Endnotes to InCopy export the story containing the references to InCopy. I am not sure how to do this. I follow the instructions and when I export to InCopy, I select all graphics and stories. Would that not include the endnotes at the end of the document?
