Hello to all,

I have a complicated footer that I use in many pages of my indesign document. I have stored the footer in my library. When I make changes to that bloc can it automatically apply these change to all the incidences of that bloc in the document?

Thanks for the help.

You can try the Content Collector tools or the Place and Link workflow:

Are you using InDesign libraries (INDL files) or Creative Cloud libraries (found in the CC Libraries panel)? Also: Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running. Please tell us (exactly) what InDesign version you're using.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the help.

I'm using Indesign 15.0.3 on MacOs Catalina 10.15.4. I'm using the CC Library with content stored on a Dropbox folder.

All the best from Chile. Mark

Headers and footers are often part of master pages. If you created the footer on the master page, and you made a change to the footer, all the pages based on that master page would be updated. That may be a simpler way of handling it.

Thank you Steve,

That already is very useful indeed.

But is there another way of updating all ocurrences of a design element that would not be either a header or a footer?

Cheers, mark
