Hi, I want to know if I can get the column lengths to be the same without having to add/remove text. Any help appreciated.

Hi @Niall Crowe:

  1. Select the frame with the Selection tool (Black arrow).
  2. Choose Type > Text Frame Options > General > Vertical Justification > Align: Justify. This will add spacing to the second column to force it to the bottom of the frame.

Alternatively, highlight the body copy and increase the tracking value in the Control panel.

The best option is copy-fitting. Add a few words to get the text in the second column to move to the next line naturally.

Not in the case of the columns you're showing. Without adding more text, the text in the two columns would have to be adjusted with letter or word spacing, or tracking. Why do you want the column lengths to have the same number of lines?

1/make the text the frame narrow to force the same no of lines in a 2nd column

2/ Create a 2 columns table with different columns width instead of a 2 columns text frame

3/ add pictures/ graphic elements to column(s) to force shifting text

Hi Niall Crowe,

another three options:

Turn on hyphenation.

Change the gutter width of the columns.

Use three instead of two columns in that frame.
