command response delay

Tonight I had to work in a new file but Indesign responds very late both to the opening of this new file and to the commands inside it. Indesign files already saved open quickly with Indesign, even the commands respond correctly. Can anyone explain to me?

It might be a partially corrupt single InDesign file. Try opening it. Export it to IDML. Re-open the IDML to reconstruct a fresh INDD document, and see if the behavior persists.
