crash on text frame option

Each time when invoking text frame options and trying to select column rules option - Indesign crashes.

All other options work well. InDesign 15.0 on Win10. 8-O

Can you see this with all documents or only with a particular one?

FWIW: It never happened to me.

InDesign 2020 Version 15.0.3.422 on German Windows 10.

That's not really the case. At least for me. With almost every "older" file I have this bug. I once found the advice to save it as idml and to indd again. It solves the problem, but considering how many different files I work with as a busy graphic designer AND how often this happens because of updated versions, this is really horrible.

I cannot work properly without the trick. There needs to be a real fix to this. I hear it more often now.

ID doesn't crash, I guess because my 16gb do something, but it freezes everytime like 10 secs. Might not sound much but it is. I got German CC 15.02, atm no Update visible/available in my console.

I prepared a demo-file, where can I upload it, Uwe?

Edit: when I have one buggy file open, the other opened ones freeze too. They work otherwise.

Hi Mike,

even if it is a single document where this happens to you:
It would be good to share a sample of it. Maybe its a setting that you do not use on other documents.

And that should be reported as bug.

Hi Sebastian,

downloaded your InDesign document.

Opened it, worked a bit with it. Looked into the Text Frame Options, changed something here and there.

No crash. No lag. Everything went smooth as it should. Cannot see an issue.

FWIW: Perhaps you have a problem with the placed EPS file?

I cannot test this, because you did not make that file available for download.

If that's the problem, save the EPS file as PDF. Open it in Adobe Illustrator and save it as PDF/X 4 and place the PDF.

I tested with InDesign 2020 Version 15.0.3.422 on German Windows 10.

I don't think the eps-files are the cause. I also just had this bug since the beginning of 2020 or end of 2019. Just fyi.

Funny enough, today i don't have a lot of delay, only like a second, which is ok or normal.

I tried to open Photoshop or Illustrator at the same time. No problem.

Then I opened several Indesign-Files and it bugged again. So can it be that there is some synching going on?

I had this problem beginning at the same time on my Office PC (windows7) and my Homeoffice-Notebook (windows10), both 16gb RAM. As I mentioned a few months ago.

I sent u am PM with 2 files that I had open when it bugged.

downloaded the two packaged documents.

Opened them. Worked a bit with them.

No slow down of InDesign.

No issues at all.
