I'm creating a 200+ page magazine that includes stories and advertisements. I now want to create an Index of Advertisers. Can I create a table of contents going off of the file name used for each PDF inserted of each advertisement? I typically createa a TOC going off of paragraph styles but that doesn't work if I want to pull from the file name.

You could create captions for each ad with a dedicated paragraph style and use this paragraph style to generate a TOC. If you don't want the captions to be visible in the document, choose none for the text color.
