I replaced text (the number 112) with a cross reference to a page number. You can see by the screen cap that the 112 should clearly fit up on the line, in fact, when typing back in the 112 in "regular text" (not a cross reference) it turns back up. There no overrides on the text or indents on the frame, the 112 should be able to go out as far as the "with" above.
Working in CS6 but CC2019 is doing the same thing.
Is there something I'm missing with the cross reference? Might this be a bug of some kind?
Thank you,
Ken
Hi Ken:
I can confirm this behavior:
1st line is text, 2nd line is the x-ref.
When the frame is wide enough, both fit on one line and track together.
When the frame is slightly narrowed, the x-ref hops to the next line.
And Uwe, No Break forces "page 111" to the next line.
You can report this here Adobe InDesign Feedback if you'd like to see it change.

Hi Ken,
what will happen if you apply No Break to the word "page" and the rest of the characters in that paragraph?

Uwe
