Anyone have a solution to my getting locked out of my software by Adobe for being too old?
No point getting another computer. It cannot be activated, ever. The servers are switched off and it's gone.
CS3 is EOL (End of Life) Which OS are you wanting to run it on?This 13-year-old version of InDesign would not be compatible with modern OS.
Either get a second-hand computer that runs old software or upgrade to CC. If you only use InDesign occasionally you can pay a bit more and pay for it by the month(s) you need it.
Do you really need activation? Are you bought box version (needs activation) or TLP (don't needs activation, distributives you can find on licensing.adobe.com).
Never mind. Your question isn't for forum, this is DIRECT question to Adobe support. Chat with them.
