When cutting, copying etc text boxes from one ID file and pasting into

another ID file, they only come across as images. Why is this? I can not

edit the text in the other ID file.

The file copying from is ID 5.0

My file is ID CC 13.1 Windows

Thanks

Hi darylGlobal ,

basically you have two options to do that successfully:

1. Open the CS5 document with InDesign CC and then copy/paste the text frame.

2. Open the CS5 document with CS5, select and export the text frame as InDesign snippet file ( *.idms ) and import the snippet file with InDesign CC.

Uwe

You need to elaborate your problem.

Do you copy in ID CS5 and paste to ID CC? Why do you not use the very same version. This is the way as it works. Use CC for both files.

What do you mean with come across images? Screen shoot?

Hi, I am copying from a template done by someone else some years ago in CS5, to include it in my ID CC.  Can I easily just upgrade the old file to ID CC in a couple of clicks?  Attempted to but could not see how to easily do it.  And would that fix the issue anyhow?

When you cut or copy the original text box, table or whatever is fully editable in CS5, it comes across to IDCC as an image (ie just a picture or screen shot of what was in the CS5  file, and you cannot edit it).  THis happens in every "template" I am getting things to copy across, none of it works from all these template files easily found on the web.
