Hello, I am having issues with using InDesign's Data Merge function for photos. This is not my first time using this feature. I know the process can be tedious & technical, but it seems that something new has gone wrong.

SYSTEM INFO:

OS: Big Sur (v 11.2.1)

Program: Indesign CC

Feature: Data Merge

ISSUE:

When merging, I am getting an error message for my entire database of photos  Not a single image will preview or merge. I have confirmed the following items:

  • All File Paths are formatted correctly (OS specific, Case Sensitive, & Accurate to the folder location)
  • Picture Columns are labeled @IMAGE and columns are formatted for Text
    • It seems like excel keeps changing the column formats back to General (maybe that is the issue?)

To troubleshooting I have tried:

  • Relabeling Picture Columns as'@Image
    • It seems like excel keeps changing the column formats back to General (maybe that is the issue?)
  • I have tried saving the file as a CSV and TXT
  • I have tried saving the excel file to my computer vs the network

Nothing has worked! Please Help!

Hi cher p,

did you resolve your issues with Data Merge and images?

And if so, what was the cause of the problem?

Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
