Hey, I wanted to use InDesign while I was on a train and simultaneously had my laptop connected to my mobile phone hotspot. Within just over 10 minutes I had used up all my data volume of 2.5 GB and I didn't have any downloads or other programs running other than InDesign and Whatsapp-Web. Furthermore the InDesign document and the other pictures used in the program were saved on the local memory. That's why I don't understand how 2.5 GB of data volume can be used up in this short amount of time. Does InDesign make any background downloads or updates that you don't see?
InDesign itself should not make such heavy downloads as far as I have observed unless you triggered something. One thing that may be the reason is the automatic app updates settings in the Creative Cloud app. Recently the 2021 version updates were released. Maybe those got downloaded if this setting is on. You can read more about this setting in the following article

Thank you for your reply! But would it also uptdate the programm while I'm using it. I intentionally opened only the InDesign-Application itself and didn't take the detour over the Creative Cloud App, where all the uptdates are managed.

If you have the apps set to auto-update it might use them.
Or was there anything else on your laptop updating, a Windows/Mac update perhaps, sometimes these are run in the background?

Yes. If you are set up for auto update, then the download may be started in the background. Using the app does not stop the work of downloading. Downloading is not necessarily done by the Creative Cloud app; many Creative Cloud services are running full time.

Auto update sounds a likely cause, since new versions are just released. Is it switched on?

Yes, it seems like it is, because in the update-section it says that InDesign was updated 4 days ago, so the day I was travelling. Thank you for your help!
