Hi

I was hoping for some advice!

Has anyone had experience designing multiple languauges that include all the below:

Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional, as well as English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish.

I am designing a document for a client using a font called Italian Plate No.2 I am not sure if this font I  supports all these languages or if I need to change a setting in InDesign.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

I cannot think there is a font that holds all the required glyphs for all that languages.

For languages like Japanese and Korean it could well be that you need the East Asia version of InDesign to get it right.

Depending on what you have to do you will also need a Middle East version of InDesign for Arabic or Hebrew.

If you like to do this the first time you may hand over this task to specialists in their fields.

Can you show a sample of some pages that should be transformed to all the languages?

What is your basic language?

( The devil's always in the details. )

If it's a colour job ensure all the text is in black, so there's only one plate change per language (put each language on its own Layer). Also, try and allow in the page design for the different amounts of space each language occupies.
