I just got an update on adding "endnotes' I don't understand the feature and why one wold use it - there was no overall description telling what was the purpose. What kind of need or application would call for using endnotes?

Hi,
Endnotes are an alternate way of talking about References, Acknowledgements, Credits etc.
These are usually found at "end" of documents and books. Like footnotes, endnotes have a reference in the text and an endnote text in the endnote.
Something like:
Add endnotes to your long document |

Endnotes are highly relevant for non-fiction publishing. The citations, references and extra commentary can beplaced then at the end of the discussion. This allows authors and publishers to have the main material flow better and shorter for readers at the front end of a book or article, and not get slowed up or interupted, so to speak, by notations at the end of chapters or at the bottom of pages. Along with the index, these improve the book a lot. InDesign offers the complete deal, a TOC, endnotes and an index, so starting out by typing into InDesign looks daunting at first, but once you get the basics down, it's smoother sailing to get the text, chapters, sections, etc. into a great pdf and ePub, (with a full TOC, endnotes and index) for the easy download to KDP/Amazon, Apple, and all the other outlets in order to be published.
