Does InDesign or Adobe allow you to export an e-magazine type layout that flips the page? Or is it a separate plugin? I don't want a file that has to be opened in an epub reader...just pdf that's been uploaded to a server for viewing. I have a client that wants people to be able to view their brochure online with flipping pages.

To be honest, IMHO, the old page-flipping effect Flash did is kind of an outdated look these days.

FWIW, you can create a page sliding transition with Publish Online, which works in browsers, like this document: https://adobe.ly/2yTI8OE

Here an article describing the simple technique for creating the effect: https://indesignsecrets.com/what-i-learned-at-creativepro-week-about-publish-online.php

Lots of other advantages for Publish Online, too. Supports all of ID's interactive features (as shown in the example document above) and can be read in any browser.

the flipping page is/was a flash effect. so no, it will not be an option available anymore, I am assuming you are on 2020 indesign. if you use an older version of indesign (2019 and below) yes, that option is there, however it will not work in mobile devices... beause is a flah based effect.

you can use something like this:

https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/?ref=footer

this product give you that effect from the export options, and it will work in mobile devices.

There are a number of third party facilities that offer this effect, such as:
