Error while importing MP4 files in InDesign.

Hello!

I'm trying to make an interactive PDF in Indesign, but 1 of my mp4 gives an error importing.

I got 2 mp4 's, 1 is no problem the other one won't import.

Anyone an idea how to solve this?

what's the exact error message?

How did you save the two mp4 files? Is there a difference?

That said, they will not play in a PDF please remember that (Flash!)

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this. I agree with the what Frank has mentioned above, videos won't play in PDFs anymore, however, you should be able to import the video files in InDesign.  Please refer to this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/flash_format_removal.html) for details.

As this issue is specific to a particular video, we might need to check that. In case you are still facing this issue, please feel free to share the video file and details asked by Uwe. We'd be glad to help.

Two important additions and corrections here!

(1) As of the May release of Acrobat DC, you don't need Flash anymore to play audio or video embedded in a PDF file.

(2) The requirements for audio is that it must be an MP3 file. The requirement for video is that it must be a video using h.264 encoding which includes most, but not all, MP4 files. Some MOV files also support h.264 encoding. InDesign 15.0.3 supports placing MP3 and MP4 but doesn't check for h.264 encoding. Unfortunately, you can only export PDF from InDesign maintaining sound and video if you use the interactive PDF export (hopefully the print and interactive are merged back together to regain sanity in PDF export from InDesign sometime in the not-too-distant future).

And would pave the way for interactive PDFs exported from joboptions PDF preset files.

Well, tried just that, see screenshots.

It is the Dutch version, but a h.264 mp4 placed in InDesign and exported to iPDF still gives this in Acrobat DC latest update from a few days ago:

You need Flash.

So what you are saying is not true. We have to wait for PDF2 support.

As far as I know, an embedded Flash player is gone since Acrobat X and we need to install Flash Player to play these things. Are you very sure you did maybe forget you have it installed? On Windows that is the standard case, tried it many times to install it there but it keeps coming back. I use it here on the Mac, No Flash Player.
