You can insert your Type tool and then click File > Export the text for editing in Word. However, you cannot edit the whole InDesign layout in Word.

Or you can try to export your indesign file to pdf and than from Acrobat Pro export it to word (File > Export > word).

It takes a few steps, but it's easy to provide your friend a résumé in Microsoft Word format from InDesign.

If she needs it as a text document, say, for online submission and digital processing for keywords and corporate filing, you'd want to highlight all the text, then use the File>Export... menu command and in the Save as type: options box choose Rich Text Format (*.rtf) option. Then open the .rtf file in MSWord and apply appropriate massaging as necessary to make it readable and attractive

Then open the .rtf file in MSWord and apply appropriate massaging as necessary to make it readable and attractive. Use the File>Save As menu command in MSWord and save the result as either a Word97-2003 Document (*.doc) file, which gives her the most portablility to use that file for a wide range of software, or the Word Document (*.docx) which is compatible with the most recent versions of MSWord and many — though not as many as the older .doc format — other word processing packages.

Be sure to give your friend both the .rtf and .doc/.docx files so she's ready with the widest range of text applications for providing her résumé. I'm hopeful she'll appreciate your efforts for her.

And I hope this helps you,

Randy
