I understand your situation very well.
That's why I use a medium resolution screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels.
I still can read everything, the dialogs are still huge, but this is bearable:

that's the usual size of that dialog. Nothing can be done, but to use a higher resolution screen, of course.

Damn. The whole point of buying a bigger screen was to have more room for the workspace, I didn't reckon on the dialogue boxes and everything increasing in size too! The dialogue box is wider than an A4 sheet of paper

On CS6 it took up about a quarter of the screen. When I have the index menu expanded as well I can barely see the job I'm working on.

Brill, yes that worked with scale and layout at 100% (initially this went to 125% so nothing changed!)
