InDesign CS5. When I open a saved file CS5 also opens a greyed out file that sits behind my working document. It has no detail on it at all. When I close it both it and the working file close.
I think it started after I caught an unknown key during a command-option operation.
Can aynone advise what I should do pleae?

I think you have enabled the application frame. Go to the Window menu > Application frame (the last item) and uncheck it.

It's a Mac 27" running High Sierra. OS 10.13.6
The Application frame was ON. I've turned it off and all is back to normal. There must be a secret Apple keystroke as I don't even know what that facitlity did or even that it was there.
Phew! I'm in the middle of a job and thought CS5 was dying on me.
Thank you so much.

The screen shot shows that the OP is on a Mac, and honestly I don't remember if application frame existed with CS5.
