Having InDesign automatically generate dates for a journal type booklet

Hi there,

I found InDesign to be extremely helpful with its templates as well as overflow text. One painful thing we have to do is manually insert the date. Also, if we need to add a page within a that date, it throws all of the headers off. Needing to add a new text date text box, and then shifting to the correct side. And deleting the old date header.

Is there a script or autotext we can generate for the date headers?

Here is the pdf of the file:

Thank you so much for your help!!

These text variables don't seem to allow for true modification/customization of dates.

For example, I am working on a dated planner, starting in 2021. I would need to create variables that allow me to start on 01 January 2021, and stop on 31 March 2021 for my first planner (they are quarterly).

From what I see, there is no way to do this through the text variables.

The creation dates, output dates, and modification dates won't work for this type of custom need.

I don't know how to set parameters using the "Date Format box" that would allow me to set start dates and end dates.

I would love to know how to do this. I have looked and looked, with no solid answer.

If you have any idea and could point me in the right direction I'd be so grateful!!!

Thanks 🙂

A planner's a bit different. Have you looked into the Calendar Wizard script?
