I have an issue when exporting an InDesign document to a PDF. I have figured out what the issue is. However, I do not know how to solve the issue.

The video at the following link illustrates the issue:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VOIyOXzGmP5iSXUL_wUpq-08BBm0ySXl/view?usp=sharing

When I have the document in RGB transparency blend space and export in RGB, it gives me problems in the output PDF. On the other hand, when the document transparency blend space is in CMYK mode and exported in CMYK, the output PDF looks good.

I need to export my file in RGB because that is how the company to which I am sending my files wants them. Given the information above, might someone know how I can export in RGB but not have the issue shown in the video?

Best wishes

At least two things:

[1] Transparency Blend Space: CMYK

[2] Option Simulate Overprint must be available.

Best select that as well.

You get this option with: Acrobat 4 PDF 1.3.

That's all, I think…

Hi apinhas,

try a setting Rob Day presented in this answer with another thread:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/trouble-print-document-to-pdf-on-indesign/m-p/11252226?cid=1...

Maybe also check the option:

Simulate Overprint

Important:

If there are spot colors in your document do not convert them to CMYK with the Ink Manager functionality.

I forgot:
Transparency Blend Space could be CMYK with the setting I suggested.

InDesign's PDF export will convert the document to sRGB.

Hi Uwe,

Thank you for taking time to respond. However, I do not understand what is actually the suggested solution to try. If you look in the video I shared, I do indeed have the "Output"settings like Rob Day's and yet still get the issue.

Could you please be more clear?

Hi apinhas,

look a bit closer to Rob's settings.

There are some differences.

It is not obvious what the difference is.

Are you referring to the fact that he uses Adobe 4 in the Compatability drop-down?
