how can i open a CS5 file in CS6 or cc indesign?

Hi everyone

Today in work i get a book project, that was saved in a CS5 Indesign format and we have CC and CS6.The file can't be opened and will send an error message. What can i do to opend that file with all layers.Please help me 😞

I'm stuck.

Does the file have the suffix .indd at the end of its name? If not try adding it and see if the file will open. An older file should open in any later version of InDesign.

How are you sure what version of InDesign was used to save the file? Any version of InDesign should open files from older versions. Perhaps the file is from a newer version that you were told.
