Our company has dozens of spec sheets, catalogs, and brochures for our products. Each document has 3 versions; with pricing, without pricing, and metric.
Say I have an indesign file with 9 pages
In this document I have 3 versions of this file so I can export a range of pages as seperate PDF files
All documents have a common footer, with copyright year and date revised and other common elements. Additionally, on page 2 of each version is a common product description.
Let's say I need to update the description per new company guidelines.
Rather than editing all three instances, how can I edit it in one place and have it update across all three locations? Similar to Adobe XD components or a global section in web development.
I read something about snippets and ICML files as a linked text frame, but multiple a feedback loop can occur with multiple placements. Am I on the correct track or is this somethig comoletly different.
Is this even possible? Should I be using XD instead?
This is so frustrating. There's got to me a effective way to manage this.
I think this is what I am looking for. Is this still relevant in 2021 or is there a more efficient way in 2021?

"Place and Link" seems to be what I am looking for.
