I have a document with multiple hyperlinks that I'm putting through a data merge. The hyperlinks have different colors and I want them to stay uniform after the data merge. But once I data merge, all hyperlinks default to whatever color the Hyperlink style is set to and get underlined. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Are the hyperlinks part of the data that is being merged? If so, data merge does not, by itself, have the capability to apply separate styles to different instances of the merged data.

The hyperlinks are not part of the data merge. I just want to disable InDesign from auto-applying the Hyperlink Style to all hyperlinks. Normally it's not an issue because I can just select a different Style for each hyperlink but when running my file through a data merge, all hyperlinks are automatically set to the Hyperlink Style.
I ended up getting around this by using the find and replace tool and editing the styles rather than the text but it's a workaround I wish I didn't have to use.

Hi Kevin,
how is the formatting of the hyperlinks applied to the text in your data merge template document?
Did you use character styles for this? Or is the formatting done with "manual" overrides of the applied paragraph style?
Can you share a sample document with a couple of instances where you see the bug?
Also a data source for a merge. Put the files on Dropbox or a similar service and share the download link.
Also the steps you take for merging the document so that we could recreate the bug.
Best show this with some screenshots.
Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
