I have a simple PNG sequence I want to add and I only have tutorials from 2014 to go by. Whenever I export (epub format), all I get is a still image of the first frame. How do I fix thix?

This feature – DPS – has been dropped by Adobe. There's an InDesign plugin, in5, (at extra cost) you could use to create this:

Not sure what it is you want to do; it sounds a little as if you want InDesign to compile a movie from stills. Perhaps you can post a link to the tutorial you're trying to follow, and we can help you figure out why things aren't happening.

Those features never worked with epub. As Derek says, you'll need in5 to use it.
