Hyperlinks in PDF from multiple InDesign documents

I have a MASTER InDesign document which has other multiple InDesign documents (in collaboration with InCopy). Within the InDesign documents (not MASTER), there are hyperlinks.

When I export the MASTER InDesign document to PDF, it does not export the hyperlinks for some reason.

Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks

What format are you exporting: Print or Interactive? If you are using the Print format, make sure to include Hyperlinks (General Section of export window)

Use the Book function to consolidate your InDesign files as actual files not placed documents. You can export the entire book out as PDF and honor the hyperlinks.

When you place an ID file in another ID file, the placed file is more like a graphic. Hyperlinks in the placed file are not active, as you've found. Suggest Kevin's solution, that you create book files instead. Unless there is another reason you have placed ID files in an ID file?

Also, if there are just a few hyperlinks, you can create a text frame on top of the link in the placed ID file and put the hyperlink text in that frame. Set the color of the text to "None."

Just tested and seems to work fine in PDF exported as Interactive PDF.

Thanks for the response.

I think Kevin's solution is probably the one to go for as we have multiple hyperlinks across all of the documents.

The overall size of each individual page will need to be A5 when finished. The separate InDesign files were designed to A4 (Hence why using an A5 InDesign file and 'placing' in the documents).

If I export the book, is there a way to downscale scale the whole book (with the main sections in A4), to A5 when generating a PDF (with the hyperlinks) ?

Many thanks
