Images in reflowable Epub

Bonjour tout le monde, je précise tout d'abord que je ne suis pas un "spécialiste" d'Indesign... Je suis en train de mettre en page un Epub REDISTRIBUABLE et j'aimerais (si c'est possible ?) pouvoir insérer quelques images entre des paragraphes, éventuellement avec des légendes. Images a priori de la même largeur que le texte, avec hauteurs variables pouvant aller jusqu'à pleine page. Bref quelque chose de vraiment très simple avec des images se redimensionnant donc selon les supports de lecture...

Mais quand j'importe une image et que j'essaye de la placer dans le document Indesign, elle recouvre une partie du texte que je ne vois plus (pas pratique...), et quand je publie l'Epub, avant et après l'image il y a généralement des espaces aberrants, ou bien elle apparaît tout à la fin... Bref : résultats "aléatoires"... Donc soit j'oublie des étapes soit l'ajout d'images n'est tout simplement pas possible dans un Epub redistribuable ? Merci beaucoup pour vos éclaircissements ! 🙂 JMC

(Hello everyone, I should first of all specify that I am not an Indesign "specialist" ... I am writing a REFLOWABLE Epub and I would like (if possible?) To be able to insert some images between paragraphs, possibly with captions. Images with the same width as the text, and variable heights, sometimes full page. Something really very simple with images resizing therefore depending on the reading media ...
But when I import an image and I try to place it in the Indesign document, it covers up part of the text that I no longer see (not practical ...), and when I publish the Epub, before and after the image there are generally aberrant spaces, or the image appears at the very end ... "random" results ... So either I forget steps or the addition of images is not just not possible in a reflowable Epub? Thank you very much for your clarifications! 🙂 JMC)

You need to anchor the image to the text. Experiment with the various ways to see which suits you best in the Anchored Objects dialogue box.

Make sure you choose when exporting ePub 3.00.

Ensure that all text has a Paragraph (and Character) style applied to it, you may have to produce several styles for various space befores etc.

Thank you very much Derek, before reading your answer I've just understood anchor system ! Perfect, no crazy randoms... And you can place the image between "larges manual paragraphes spaces" which will disappear after exporting and see easily the text...)

Differences between anchor objects options, export objects options and export epub objects options are not yet very evident for me but as you said I'm experimenting it. Epub 3.00 : OK I'll do it. Styles : yes, fortunatly I did it !  Have a nice day

(Merci beaucoup Derek, avant de lire votre réponse je venais juste de comprendre le principe des ancrages d'objets ! Impeccable, plus de placements aléatoires... Et ça permet de placer les images entre de "grands espaces manuels entre paragraphes" qui disparaîtront à l'exportation ce qui permet de visualiser facilement le texte...

Différences entre options d'objets ancrés, options d'exportation d'objets et options d'exportation d'objets pour epub ne sont pas encore très claires pour moi mais comme vous dites il faut faire des essais...)

What I meant about spaces in paragraphs is that they must be made with Paragraph Styles e.g. Space After (as ePub is HTML carriage returns won't be recognised).

Yes it's what I do : many paragraph styles with spaces before, after... I'll also use this method for "fixed" or "paper" layout. Images : after experimentation it seems OK when I open the exported epub with Apple Ibook app, I hope it will also run with other supports...
