Hi Kathinka,

could you provide a sample document in the older version where you can see the space instead the "^S"?

How did you do this space exactly? Did you type in the space? Did you copy/paste from a different document? Did you place a Word or a RTF document? Did you open an IDML file?

What's your operating system and machine?

Thanks,
Uwe Laubender

Hi Uwe

I did a search and replace for space%, to keep number and percent-sign together – as I've done many times before.

I did not open an idml file, but an .indd from the previous version of indesign. It showed up right two days ago.

Now it seems as if there's been generated another code after the number (^4) which I cannot do a search for.

Thanks

kat

Hi kat,

I'm still confused.

With Text Find I can find that NONBREAKING_SPACE special character:

TEXT Find NONBREAKING_SPACE-1.PNG

Tested with my German InDesign 16.2.1.102 on Windows 10.

Did you make a find and replace? Check, if you use the correct placeholder for text and if it is with GREP it is different.

To add to Willi's remark:

^S in GREP Find means:

Find literal character S at the beginning of a paragraph.

Your case that ^S suddenly appears as result from an action with InDesign's Find/Replace feature might be a different case.

For that we need some screenshots of the Find/Replace function. Before and after Find/Replace where the text is visible showing invisible characters.

Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
