Indesign 16 - "Failed to Export" now on every single Indesign file I have

Hi, since I downloaded Indesign 16 I can no longer export to PDF.

This applies to *every single indesign file* I have tried so far, which previously could export to PDF. 

 

In attempts to fix I have:

-upgraded my Mac OS to Catalina from Mohave 

-deinstalled and reinstalled Indesign

-rebooted computer

-tried to Save As idml and export to PDF 4 

...as per forum suggestions for previous people experiencing this problem. 

 

Assistance much appreciated.

Also, this is happening to my partner as well who upgraded before me.

We both access Indesign files via Dropbox.

Have you tried resetting the InDesign preferences?
If that doesn't work I suggest you uninstall InDesign using the drop-down menu in the Creative Cloud app and run Adobe Cleaner before reinstalling InDesign again.

Hi there,

 

You may follow instructions given on this help article to reset the preferences of the InDesign. Let us know how it goes.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Hi Sarah,

what happens if you try to export to PDF?
Is there an error message?

 

Did you try other export formats like IDML, JPEG, PNG and EPS?

Does this work as expected?

 

What you also can try:

Change the behavior of InDesign to use a background process when exporting using a text file named:

DisableAsyncExports.txt

 

How to do that, read:

This description is for InDesign CS5 or CS5.5, but it still will work with InDesign 2021 and all versions between.
