Hey,

I have the same issue, sometimes it doesn't crash and then suddenly it keeps crashing every time I want to use the commande cmd + C / X / V...

I am on Mac Book Pro, Catalina 10.15.6, I just reinstalled inDesign so I have the latest version.

It is really frustrating I keep loosing the work I am doing 😞

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Does it happen with a specific document or all? If it is happening with a specific document, try to save it as IDML and try to work on it.

If this is happening with all the documents. Please try resetting the preferences by following instructions below:

  • Close all adobe applications
  • Go to Locations:
  • ~/Library/Caches
  • ~/Library/Preferences
  • Rename Adobe InDesign and com.adobe.indesign to Adobe InDesign.old and com.adobe.indesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from the CC

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and InDesign will recreate new folders with default settings.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Agree, deleting preferences is always a good first step for trouble shooting. You can use the technique mentioned, or simply hold how Shift-Control-Option-Command while you launch the app (you have to click the app, then hold down the keys immediately). You should get a dialog asking if you want to delete preferences.

We have released InDesign 2020.1.2(v15.1.2.226) with a lot of stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

Also, please send the following information to me at santalwa@adobe.com :

  • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
  • Video recording of the crash?
  • Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide the document(s)/asset(s) to us? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)
