InDesign (2020) Crashing/Editorial issues (Mac)

HI There, I have a client with a couple issues when using InDesign 2020 on her Catalina MBP;

 

 InDesign crashing whenever the user tries to click on 'Effects', and also crashing when exporting to PDF.

 

The other issue is the user is making editorial changes to a file that has seperate pages where the copy flows on from each other between them. I am trying to change one word, and it completely changes the formatting throughout the whole document and loosing copy on the final page too, everything offsets itself.

 

No colleagues are having either of these issues.

 

I have tried with completetly removing all trace of Adobe InDesign and Creative Cloud, taking everything back to "factory" and then reinstalling all again but to no joy.

 

Anyone come across this happening? If so do you have a fix?

Sorry to hear about this trouble. Let us help you with this. Would you mind sharing a few more details like:

  • Exact version of InDesign.
  • Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link. 
  • Where the files are saved (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)? 
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently. 
  • Is the same file working for other users?

 

Also, please try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there. It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the InDesign.
