And one day it will be Photoshop not opening, another day it will be Illustrator, on and on and on.

I have an urgent job to do, have restarte Mac which is operating on all updates, INDD 2020. Absolutely useless and extremely annoying.

Am I the only one on the planet suffering from this?

off to restart - AGAIN

Hi Ian,

Sorry to hear about your experience. In addition to the questions asked by Derek, would you mind sharing if you get any error while launching the apps?

I'd also request restarting your system in Safe Mode and see how app is performing there. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the InDesign.

If that doesn't help either, login to root account (https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204012

Which version of your OS?

How much RAM do you have?

Have you tried resetting your InDesign Preferences?

If that doesn't help either, login to root account (https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204012). Check how application works there. If it works fine there, then it could be related to permission errors. Follow these steps to repair permission errors:

  • Go to Terminal (Go Utilities Terminal.app)
  • Execute the following command on terminal to provide permission:
    • sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/<user>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign
    • sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
    • sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh
