After upgrading to Catalina we cannot save an .indd file onto our network.  We can save it onto our hard drive.  We can save an .idml file onto the network, but not an .indd.  When attempting to save the .indd file onto any network location it gives the error: "InDesign is unable to save this file.  We tried, but it appears to damaged."  When attempting to Save a copy it says "Cannot save a copy of "<filename>". This file "<filename>" is damaged (Error code: 0)."

We've tried deleting the InDesign preferences with no improvement.  All other Adobe products can open and save files onto those same network locations without issue, but only .indd files in InDesign have issues.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with InDesign. There could be multiple reasons why an application is not connecting properly to network. Though we have limited support on Network and VM related issues( https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.htmlbut from personal experience I would suggest you few things which you must check:

  • Check if this is happening with your user account only or with multiple users.
  • Check if there is any antivirus or if there is any end point security or if there is any restriction imposed by your IT Team. Due to this sometimes server does not allow application to save but you are able to save outside the application.
  • You may also try to unmount the Network drive and reconnect it again.

Regards,

Srishti
