InDesign 2021 slow crash & burn

Hi all, since updating to 2021 I've had a recurring issue with what appears to be screen redraw? Happens completely out of the blue, often when text editing. InDesign will hang for a moment, black out the menus, and then just stop showing newly entered text on the page (although the cursor will still track along) or show it as a greeked block (the bleeding red is just my quick redaction attempt). The application does not come back, it just remains unresponsive and unusable and I have to force quit.

Anyone else experiencing this? Thankfully it seems that the autosave function is at least working, so the content isn't lost every time. But still a huge wrench in the workflow.

Running it on a 2017 Dell XPS 9570 4k 16GB/2.2GHz.

Are you have this with any files? If this is only one file, did you try to resave as indd-idml-indd?

Do you use it grep-styles? If yes - try to off them.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner
