Hi,

InDesign CC 2018 is the only version fully supported for High Sierra. The upgrade will solve the issue.

Hi Priya,

I would like to know if the steps suggested by Cinzia worked for you, or the issue still persists.

Kindly update the discussion if you need further assistance with it.

Thanks,

Srishti

Same problem for me.  InDesign loads like there is no issue. Then as soon as I try to do anything, navigate anywhere, scroll etc. spinning wheel of death.  Freezes my whole damn system. Wont even force quit.  have to reboot the Macbook Pro.  This, I can not abide!

That's the CC Desktop app. What version of InDesign are you using?

Okay, please note in the future, that you don't have CC2017 and a new thread would be helpful.

That out of the way, first thing to do would be resetting your preferences.

I trashed the preferences several times.  It did not help. I can still launch InDesign, but the moment I try to scroll or navigate anywhere I get the spinning wheel.  sometimes it freezes completely so I have no recourse but to restart the MacBook Pro, other times it allows me to force quit, but even after I force quit the program, it leaves my system upset and eventually it locks up with the spinning wheel.  What's the next step in troubleshooting this. . .

Hi Grady,

As you have already tried resetting preferences and turning of GPU. I would request you to please check how the application works in Root account: How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support and Safe Mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Looking forward to your response!

Regards,

Srishti
