InDesign CC 2020 15.1.1 Chronically Pinwheeling and Pausing

Hi, InDesign will chronically pinwheel and hang up/pause while executing normal operations on simple documents. What is the fix? It is hurting workflow. Thanks.

Here's a few thing to try\look for...

 

Is live Preflight on? I have found that turning it off makes things run a lot better.

To disable Preflight:

  1. Click on the downward pointing arrow to the right of the colored dot (either red or green depending on whether it has picked up errors).
  2. Choose Preflight Panel from the pop-up menu.
  3. Disable the On switch in the resultant Preflight Panel.

 

Try setting the Indesign- Preferences- Display Performance to typical display,

Using a keyboard shortcut:
1. (Windows) Start InDesign, and then immediately press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. ...
2. (Mac OS) Start InDesign, and then immediately press Shift+Option+Command+Control. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
