InDesign crashing while opening a new document from start page

Hi,

Keep having problems when i start a new document from the startpage.

When i push more presets it open but then i can't give in the numbers i want and need to force reset all the time.

what is your operating system?

what indesign version do you have?

did the problem start when you installed new version of Indesign perhaps?

did you try to reset your Indesign preferences?

to delete your indesign preferences:

1. (Windows) Start InDesign, and then immediately press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. ...
2. (Mac OS) Start InDesign, and then immediately press Shift+Option+Command+Control. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.

what is your operating system? Catalina 10.15.7

what indesign version do you have? 16.01

did the problem start when you installed new version of Indesign perhaps? probilly, van't remember because undesign auto updates.

did you try to reset your Indesign preferences? Yes allready did that but after some time it comes back

Hi there,

So sorry to hear about this trouble. Please try following these steps one by one and let us know how it goes: 

• Rename CEP folder from following locations.  
  MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe  to CEP.old 
  Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP 
   
• If that doesn't help, rename extensions folder from  
  MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP to extensions.old 
  Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP 

• If that doesn't help either, uninstall the application using Cleaner tool (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html) and reinstall from the Creative Cloud Desktop app (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/download-install/using/download-creative-cloud-apps.html).

Hi Oscar,

does it help if you are using the "Legacy New Document" dialog?

You can enable this option in the InDesign Preferences.

Preferences > General >

[x] Use Legacy "New Document" Dialog
