InDesign document crashes repeatedly when objects are moved

Hello,

I'm working on a book and the document crashes repeatedly whenever I move an object which affects the pagination. I have tried the following:

  • resetting preferences
  • creating new clean document and cut and paste everything one by one into new one. This worked for a while but now I'm getting same problem
  • removed all embedded images which were imported from word.
  • Creating idml file which just crashes upon opening.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've got a deadline looming...

Much appreciated!

Thanks

1) What version are you use it? Try it workaround: if you have v15 then install v14 in parallel and open idml in it, save it indd/indb and try to work, if not have crashes - work in previous version (that will kill your deadline problems), and don't forget to send to Adobe support service example files where you have crash in new version.

2) Re-save and re-place all .eps as .ai, all .png/.jpeg/.tif/.gif/etc as .psd and try again.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

Hi there,

There are multiple factors, both internal and external to InDesign application that can lead to document corruption. I would like to know if the steps suggested by Geоrge worked for you. If not, please email your InDesign file to idfile@adobe.com and we will take a look at the document.

If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link. Kindly update the discussion if you still need assistance with it.

I must also inform you that file recovery can't be guaranteed with a 100% success. We'll surely try our best.

Regards,
Srishti
