I'm using InDesign to publish an eBook, so I'm trying to create a reflowable ePub. However, it keeps opening on page 233 (317 pages total). I'd like the ePub to open on page 1.
I noticed someone posted about this in 2019, but I tried the recommended step and it didn't work. (Also, when I save any other way for navigation, the chapters don't start on new pages.)

I've tried saving the file under a different name and deleting it and re-saving it.
All of pages I want in the ePub are saved as articles and in the right order. I am saving it as a Reflowable ePub.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Would really appreciate your help.

Not in InDesign issue. Many epub readers will remember what page you closed the file on.

I'm having a similar issue. Every time I re-export an updated version of my reflowable EPUB, it opens on page 3 (I'm viewing it in iBooks). Even if I rename the file, change the identifier, or delete the old file before exporting, it still opens the new file at page 3. If I go deeper into the EPUB and close it on page 20, upon eporting again it still opens on page 3.
I'm going insane. Please send help.

I was having same issue and it took awhile to fix.
My first bookmark was "Foreword" on page 5
Added a new bookmark for page 1 (Book Title)
Remade epub and problem fixed.
The epub seems to determine its opening jump location to the first bookmark.
Seems so obvious now!!!!
