Indesign file constantly crashing - *** error for object 0x6180004197a0: Invalid pointer dequeued from free list

I have done several idml exports and reimports and that didn't help. Updated to latest version of InDesign. Similar to the thread of three years ago that turned up when I searched for this error. It happens in one action or it may take several before a a crash. As simple as deleting text returns or choosing a menu item. Seems to be document specific. Haven't been able to replicate with another document. That's why I was surprised the idml export didn't work.

Do not post crash reports here. Post them on pastebin.com and provide a link.

That said, you are not even close to being on the latest update of InDesign and you're using an old Mac OS.

I have no idea what's causing the crash. Is it one file or all?

Have you considered a clean install of Mojave? That would allow you to install all of the current versions of Creative Cloud.

We have released an update for InDesign CC2019 (v 14.0.1) which contains some stability fixes. If you are not already on 14.0.1 (build 209), then we recommend you to update to latest version.

If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us.

Also, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com :

• Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
• Error snapshot or video recording of the issue.
• Is the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, can you please share the document(s)/asset(s) with us?
• Does trashing InDesign Preferences and Cache help resolve the issue? Please take a backup of the same before trashing them.

It would happen with almost any action. Sometime immediately, sometimes I could make an edit or two.

I think I have solved it. The Word doc supplied to me was a mish-mash of submissions with dozens of fonts. Once I forced to application of a paragraph style, the document became stable once again. I had noticed in font usage there was some hidden conditional text that the font symbol was applied to. I could never select or change that in font usage. That is the only thing out of the ordinary that I noticed other than way too many fonts used in the Word doc. I could post that doc if anyone wants to look at it.
