I have a folder from the book designer with the InDesign file (already published) and folder includes sub folders for links to graphics and font folder.  the graphics folder links perfectly to the file.  however- the font folder will not link to the InDesign file.

I have been on the phone with adobe and waited more than 90  minutes in two different calls- only to be disconnected. the chat person insists its because they are not adobe fonts (wrong- Futura light is and adobe file).... HOW DO I ACTUALLY LINK THE fonts to the book?

I tried

  • activating each font on computer (windows) and in the InD program
  • re-dowloading InD
  • restarting....

HELP!!!!

Did the book designer use fonts from your computer? Or get them from somewhere else and provide them to you? Is the book designer using a Windows system too?

Are you using any kind of font manager on your system?

Have you tried to install the fonts on your system? Or are you trying to run them from the fonts sub-folder your book designer provided you without installing them on your system? Are you sure the book designer created the fonts folder by packaging the job? Or did they give you a separate folder they prepared themselves with all the fonts for the job?

You say the job has already been published. Did you publish it? Or someone else? How did they publish it, and with whom?

Finally, what version of InDesign and the Windows OS are you using? What versions of each did your book designer use to create the job?

We're willing to try to help you, but we need a fair amount of information from you before we can even start. If you can share that with us, we can try to help you.

Did you make sure the fonts folder is named "Document fonts" observing the capitalization of the D and the lowercase f?
