Hi Guys,
Today in the morning I updated my MacBook (Catalina 10.15.6). No InDesign application has worked since this update. Do some have the same problem?

Hello, my problem has been resolved. I asked an IT specialist who couldn't solve the problem either.
We created a new user on the same computer and strangely enough it worked.

I had a massive problem with fonts on my computer the day before. Maybe something got stuck there.
The IT specialist removed the font in question and then InDesign suddenly worked again on my
original user profile.

It probably just stupidly coincided with the Catalina update.

Hi Susanne/Elena,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Do you have issues only with InDesign or other apps as well after updating macOS?

Are you getting any error when you try to launch the app?

Have you tried resetting preferences of InDesign? If not, please try doing that.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

If that doesn't help, login to root account (https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204012). Check how application works there. If it works fine there, then it could be related to permission errors. Follow these steps to repair permission errors:

  • Go to Terminal (Go Utilities Terminal.app)
  • Execute the following command on terminal to provide permission:
    • sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/<user>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign
    • sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
    • sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support

Let us know if it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh
