InDesign is sporadically refuses to read Helvetica in some documents

Attached is a screenshot of an InDesign document where every other time I open the file to make updates, the document screws up the text (Helvetica) into these symbols. I can close it and open it again 2 seconds later and everything is fine. I obviously have Helvetica in my font files, packages, InDesign etc. So why does this happen?

Have you tried resetting the InDesign Preferences?


https://helpx.adobe.com/au/indesign/using/setting-preferences.html

 

Do one of the following:

  • (Windows) Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
  • (Mac OS) While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
