I also have these issues - I intermittently get a glitchy square instead of my cursor, but only in InDesign, which then takes over the screen on shutdown of the machine as well - as in attached picture - it's a complete nightmare. As soon as it starts, the only way out of it is to quit InDesign. But the longer you seem to use it throughout the day, the more frequently it occurs... sigh.
