InDesign not recognizing embeded images

I am not a power user, but I cannot see embeded images in the latest version of InDesign. I tried to convert to the older version but was given a message that it could not complete the process, try again later. I have hundreds of embeded images in this document and I need to get them back. Any ideas?

Do you mean linked files that have been set to Embed, or pasted objects? Pasted objects do not get listed in the Links panel, but embed links do.
