I just opened InDesign, an app in my Creative Cloud subscription, for the first time yesterday (I usually work in Lightroom and Photoshop). ID has crashed/restarted my computer several times in the last two days. I'm using it on a new Mac Pro running OSX Catalina.

Yeah, I'd suggest that too.

Hi Derek, thanks for the reply. I haven't changed any of the Preferences from their default settings, and I don't see any option for "Reset Preferences"?

It would be highly unlikely for an application to take down the entire machine. More information might help.

Hi Bob, I just opened InDesign for the first time today and it quickly crashed the system and automatically restarted. Here's the crash report (pardon the overkill, way above my pay grade...) Thanks for your help if this is within your pay grade.

This is a kernal panic, equivalent to a blue screen in Windows.

The crash did not happen within InDesign, but within the "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Core Sync"

This could be a memory hardware defect but also a bad kernal extension.

See https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/diagnose-problems-mh35727/mac for memory hardware tests.

Following https://superuser.com/questions/273842/macbook-pro-kernel-panics to see whether there are non-Apple kernal extensions, open a terminal, then run the command "kextstat | grep -v com.apple"

Also make sure to have a full backup, or multiple independent ones, just in case ...

Well, there is an "Core Sync.app" which comes with the Creative Cloud app.
Maybe reinstall or try the repair function which comes up during deinstall of the Creative Cloud app.
